ABOUT US

img-name
Hielo Cachanilla is a family own business founded in 2005 in the city of Mexicali, Baja California, México. The origin of the word "Cachanilla", word used to name the residents of this region, comes from the name of a local plant used by the pioneers as an additive to make the adobe bricks from which their houses were made. Hielo Cachanilla was born out of the necessity to supply the increasing demand of ice in Mexicali and it rich agricultural valley. Hielo Cachanilla makes ice in different forms and sizes from 140 kg blocks of solid ice to bagged cylinder ice in many different sizes. All our ice is made with 100% reverse osmosis purified water.

Some of our biggest clients are vegetable producers in the Mexicali Valley. Our ice quality is so high that it has been exported to the USA: Our close relationship with some of our biggest clients enabled us to see the trends in the processing and specially cooling of different vegetable products. This prompted us to start building different specialized cooling equipment for vegetable cooling like hydrocoolers, vacuum cooling chambers, ice injectors, ice banks, ice making equipment, etc. Currently, we have a division within our organization to fabricate agro-industrial cooling equipment, most of which is custom made.
